Fortunately, the Milk by Neil Gaiman
One morning a family runs out of milk for their breakfast cereal. Father goes out to buy some more. The children wonder what has delayed him and so begins a story of time travel, dinosaurs, pirates, elves, and more. Fortunately, he brings home the milk.
