Combine Like Terms Exit Tickets
Right now I am teaching a sixth grade algebra unit to my fifth grade gifted students. I am creating several sets of exit tickets for quick formative assessment. Today I want to share with you my set of exit tickets for combining like terms.
I call them exit tickets, but they could be used at the beginning of a lesson to assess what students already know or as small group work for struggling students.

The Adventures of a South Pole Pig by Chris Kurtz
Flora's life begins, like most pigs, on a farm with her sisters and brothers, but she has an ambition to become a sled pig. When she finds herself on a ship headed to Antarctica, she thinks her dream is coming true. How can Flora prove she is worth more than bacon?
Chris Kurtz's The Adventures of a South Pole Pig reminded me of Wilbur in Charlotte's Web.

Printable Spring Cleaning Writing Prompt
True confession: this is an update of a post I wrote almost five years ago. I took what was just the graphic and the writing prompt and turned it into a printable organizer for a short informational assignment.

New Kid by Tim Green
My students are reading and recommending two books by Tim Green: New Kid and Kid Owner. I haven't yet read Kid Owner, but as popular as it is with my sports fans, it is on my reading list.
New Kid is about a baseball player whose dad suddenly moves him from one town to another and changes his name. A prank gone wrong gets the attention of the local baseball coach and soon Tommy AKA Brock is recruited to an elite team. Will Tommy's father let him play? Will he have to move to a new town because of his fame?

Order of Operations Exit Tickets
This two-page freebie is a set of exit tickets I used when I taught Order of Operations to my fifth graders this year. Like all of my paid and free math materials, Order of Operations Exit Tickets include an answer key on the second page.

Coded Messages Order of Operations is a set of math problems where students use Order of Operations to fill in a function table and decode messages. You can purchase this product and others in the Coded Messages series in my Teachers Pay Teachers store and my Teacher's Notebook store.
