Pizza Party -- Fractions on a Line Plot

My fourth graders and I have a theory that everything we are learning in math this year could happen in a pizza parlor.  I would like to share a recent assignment I call Pizza Party involving fractions and a line plot.

I have been working on sets of problems that follow a particular scenario.  In this task students graph the fractions of a whole pizza that each partygoer ate. On the second page students see the fractions of each type of pizza left and recommend how much of each type should be ordered next time.

This 22 page product addresses the vocabulary words line, line segment, ray, angle, congruent, polygon, parallel, and perpendicular.

  1. What a great idea to get kids to think about how math happens in real life! Thanks for a great freebie!!
