Question of the Week -- School lunch
One of my worst teaching days was when the kitchen ran out of food and my students ate cold cereal two meals in a row. Quality teaching and learning is difficult on an empty stomach.
What do you do when students don't have lunch or forget their lunch money? Is is a school policy, or do you do something on your own?

I've never experienced our cafeteria running out of food, but on occasion I do have students that run out of lunch money. I try to keep a little extra in my account and usually cover it for them. I send a little note home with the kiddo to let their parent know that I took care of there hungry tummy that day. I've gotten many thank you's from appreciative parents...
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice way to handle it. I bet the parents and students appreciate you.
